Karting Palamós

The track

Karting Palamós is located at kilometer 326.5 on the C-31, at the entrance to Palamós, in the heart of the Costa Brava. It has two separate tracks—one for adults and one for children—and is the track with the best age-graded fleet in the entire province of Girona.

There are five categories, each with its own age range: the Children’s Kart, with a 120 cc Honda engine, for children ages 5 and up who are at least 120 centimeters tall; the Junior Kart, with a 160 cc Honda engine, for ages 10 and up; the Super Kart and the Racing Kart, both 270 cc Hondas for adults, with the latter being the most demanding; and the Two-Seater, a 200 cc Honda, designed for an adult to drive with a child. It’s rare to find a kart suitable for a five-year-old with a specified minimum height requirement, and that’s precisely the factor that determines whether a family with young children can go or not.

The karts are equipped with an electronic system that allows the engine to be throttled back via remote control from the pits, so staff can remotely slow down anyone going too fast or intervene before a situation escalates into a crash. There is a timing system, lighting for night driving, a bar, a terrace, a children’s play area, and free parking.

The hours are clearly seasonal, as is typical for the Costa Brava: from April through June and from September through October, it’s open in the morning and afternoon with a midday break, and in July and August, it’s open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. without closing. For groups, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and corporate events, they provide customized quotes.

Its website is available in Spanish, Catalan, English, and French, which says a lot about who its summer clientele is.
