The track

Karting del Sol is an outdoor track located at kilometer 268.4 of the N-340 in Almayate, in the municipality of Vélez-Málaga, in the Axarquía region. It opened in 1989, making it the oldest go-kart track on the Costa del Sol and one of the longest-running tracks still in operation in Spain.

Thirty-five years of operation in an area with such high tourist turnover speaks to something no list of amenities can convey: it has outlasted several generations of competition along the coast.

The fleet covers all three categories: single-seater gas-powered karts, two-seaters for passengers who don’t drive, and karts for children. This combination allows an entire family to participate without leaving anyone watching from the fence—which is the most common drawback of a track with only adult karts.

It’s also one of only four kart tracks in the province with a driving school—meaning it offers training, not just by-the-minute rentals. It features a café, a terrace, and free parking, which is no small matter on the N-340.

Almayate is located between Torre del Mar and Rincón de la Victoria, about twenty-five minutes from Málaga city via the highway, and is the go-to destination for the entire Axarquía region: the next track to the east is already in Granada. There are no published hours, so it’s best to call before heading there.
