Karting Indoor Irún

The track

Karting Indoor Irún is located eighteen kilometers from San Sebastián and is managed by Vilariño Motorsport, the same company that runs the Olaberria Circuit. It is an indoor track featuring 270 cc karts and ten-minute sessions.

It offers two things that no other track in this directory does, and both are real reasons to come back.

The first is drift karts, a separate discipline in which the kart is set up to slide rather than grip. It’s driving in the opposite direction of a normal session, and you book it by the session just like the rest.

The second is simpler and more ingenious: on Sundays, from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., you drive in the opposite direction of the usual layout. The layout is the same, but driving in reverse makes it practically a different track—the braking points change, and the turns you used to take by memory no longer work—and the track itself presents it for what it is: a test to see if your lap is faster or slower. For those who already know the track, this makes it feel like a whole new one.

There are two competition formats: exclusive track rental for groups of six or more, with ten minutes of qualifying and ten minutes of racing; and the Kart Alquiler 270 Cup, with fifteen minutes of each. Ten-session passes can be shared among different people, which is convenient for a group of individuals coming on their own. There are also two-seaters and beginner and advanced karting courses.

It hosts birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and corporate events. And to pass the time while waiting, there’s pool and darts—which, in an indoor facility with time slots, is more useful than it seems.

It’s open Wednesday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for weekly rest, unless those days fall on a holiday.

As in Olaberria, lap times are saved in the Vilariño driver app, which is shared between the two circuits.
