Karting El Pla

The track

Karting El Pla is located at kilometer 174 of the C-14, in El Pla de Sant Tirs, in Alt Urgell, on the way to the Lleida Pyrenees. It is the most comprehensive karting facility listed in this directory, and by far the one that publishes the most of its own data.

It features 1,400 meters of asphalt, 8 meters wide, divided into four configurations: a short 600-meter track, a long 800-meter track, the full 1,400-meter track, and an additional 250 meters of dirt track that can be linked for supermotard racing. Having four different tracks within a single facility is unique here.

Its kart lineup has six tiers, and it publishes the engine and power output for each one—something almost no other track does: the Junior, with a 160-cc Honda GX engine producing 5.5 CV, for children ages 7 to 12; the SuperBi, a two-seater with a 270 cc engine and 9 CV for two adults or one adult with a child at least 130 centimeters tall; the Super Kart, with the same engine, for ages 12 and up; the Racing, a 400 cc Honda with 15 CV for those 16 and older; and at the top, two true competition karts with two-stroke Rotax 125 engines, rated at 23 and 30 CV, the latter reserved only for drivers with advanced skills. There is also a Formula fleet reserved for events and group races.

Those Rotax engines are what set this place apart from a recreational karting track: 30 CV in a kart chassis is competition-grade equipment, not something for an afternoon with friends.

And the facilities follow the same philosophy: a shop for spare parts and racing gear, a workshop for kart inspections and repairs, a storage facility for karts or motorcycles, and dual-channel timing compatible with personal transponders like Alfano or Mychron. Anyone with their own kart can drive with a track pass and use the workshop, which has water, electricity, and compressed air.

It also rents motorcycles—supermotos and pit bikes—and offers driving instruction. It has a bar-restaurant with a panoramic terrace overlooking the circuit.

It’s open every day of the year from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. by appointment.
